Mississippi Project

The Road to understanding the American Nightmare we argue starts in Mississippi. During the last years of the antebellum period, Mississippi was the richest settler-state in the United States based on the wealth generated by enslaved African labor. Since the counter-revolution against Black Reconstruction and the domination of wage labor economics (in agricultural plantations, service and industry) in the state, it typically qualifies as the poorest state in the union as a result of the neo-slave like conditions imposed upon Black people. Deep Dish TV is collaborating with Cooperation Jackson to establish a Media Center in Jackson and transfer video production and editing skills to local activists so that they can tell their own stories of the American Nightmare. This section collects some of the intial videos produced as part of the training project.
